Offshore tax saving opportunities – Imaginative tax planning - Custom solutions

OPPORTUNITY

Where there's more than one country involved  - whether with your own residence & domicile (or even if you're simply planning to live overseas for a period later in life), or in connection with a transaction, or with a way of doing business, then there may be opportunities for saving tax, quite legitimately, by proper and careful planning.

So if (say) your home is in one country and you're planning to work, or start a business venture in another, it may be worthwhile investigating further - but you really do need to check this out at the earliest moment - when you've committed yourself to the arrangement it may be too late to structure the arrangement to get these savings.

Internet based services which are substantially automated are particularly well suited to what we can offer here - but we can help with 'personal services' situations too.

Where there is at least one of

and that can be coupled with some personal offshore connection or intentions (past, present, or future), then we can generally identify and offer a potential solution.

Where the plan involves the setting up of a business offshore, we can often also help by introducing you to others who can provide the resources of managing and running not only the structure, but also operations.

If you are non-domiciled in the UK, or if you can become UK non-resident whilst the money is actually being earned, it naturally helps - but we have also devised wholly legitimate solutions to cover situations for individuals who are UK domiciled and who will remain UK resident until a later stage.

See also s615 pension schemes - for contractors who intend to take an overseas contract, and want an opportunity to accumulate (and in due course get access to) a tax free fund wholly legitimately.  A trust is set up which qualifies under this section as a pension scheme, and funds paid into it as contributions whilst the contract is running;  the fund can accumulate interest or investment income tax free;  and the entire fund can be taken at the end of the contract as a lump sum, without liability for tax.   In many cases, the Contractor can be employed by a UK employer and still take advantage of this scheme.

COST

Offshore solutions need not be expensive – and indeed the whole object of them is to save money, rather than spend it.  One of our specialities lies in designing custom solutions for our clients’ particular situations.  The particular blend of skills we offer includes:

Where necessary, we have access to the resources of (and can introduce to) others who can provide the kinds of services necessary to assist in setting up such structures, and then to provide services as are needed on an ongoing basis, and for reasonable cost.

We charge for the work we do in advising and setting up such arrangements, but we do not generally participate in the ongoing arrangements - and we get no kickback from making introductions. This means you can depend on us to give you totally independent and impartial advice.

HOW TO FIND OUT WHAT WE CAN DO FOR YOU

As one satisfied customer recently said, 'I am impressed with the attention to detail in the plan...'.

If you think the above might apply to you, mail me with details of your position and your intentions, and I'll be able to give a preliminary view on whether or not this is likely to be worth exploring for you.

I'd really appreciate your feedback on this FAQ - so mail me and tell me what you think of it, if it's been useful to you, or let me know of any specific problem you have where I may be able to help.
