What we don’t do

 

We don’t ourselves handle litigation or tribunals as such - our business is to try to help our clients avoid that, if at all possible; we are happy to advise in relation to disputes relevant to our subject area, and to try and avoid the need for litigation, including engaging in negotiations, and drafting and managing correspondence;  but if a point arises where litigation becomes inevitable, we will introduce and pass the case over to a colleague with an established track record.

 

We are not Tax Advisors;  and we don’t do or recommend artificial ‘Tax Mitigation Schemes’, or anything which would require registration under DOTAS.

 

We don’t do ‘private client’ (typical ‘high street’) legal work, such as family law, conveyancing, consumer problems, lettings, crime, wills, trusts;  and we don’t handle clients’ money.  We don’t do ‘reserved legal activity’ (as defined by section 12, Legal Services Act 2007).

 

We neither accept nor pay commission – so if you are recommended to us, you will know it’s because of our reputation;  and if we recommend someone else to you, you’ll know it’s not because we stand to gain in some hidden way from doing so.  May be a quaint way to do business, but it’s how we like to be dealt with ourselves.
